Baltimore, Md. - The Greyhounds face their final non-conference opponent Tuesday night when they travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on the Lady Flames. Loyola is currently 8-4 on the season after conference wins over Saint Peter's and Manhattan this past weekend while Liberty's last contest was a 66-42 win over American on Jan. 3.
The Lady Flames have taken both contests in the series with the Greyhounds. The first a 70-62 win in the 2003-04 season in the first round of the Lafayette Holiday Classic and the second, last season at Reitz Arena by a score of 80-69. The two teams have yet to face each other in Lynchburg at the Vines Center.
In both of those contests, Loyola was led in double-figures by current seniors Lauren Troupe and Krystle Harrington. In the Dec. 29, 2003 contest, Troupe score 18 points while Harrington added 14. On Jan. 4, 2005, Troupe was a point off her career-high with 21 points while Harrington added 18 points.
Liberty is 7-4 on the season after a 66-42 win over American on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Lady Flames are led in scoring and rebounding by freshman Megan Frazee who posts a double-double with 18.5 points and 10 rebounds a game. Frazee has also dished out a team-high 34 assists. She's followed by her sister Moriah at 8.1 points per game. Karol Poitrkiewcz is third at 6.8 points but is second in board at 7.1 per game.
The Lady Flames are averaging 64.7 points per game, 2.2 better than their opponents and 45.7 rebounds, 10.2 better than their opponents.
Senior Jackie Valderas is currently leading Loyola in scoring and rebounding with 10.3 points and 7.8 rebounds a game while coming in off the bench. Junior Brittany Dunn is close behind at 10.2 points per game and is the leader in steals with 21. Three more Greyhounds are just inches away from averaging double figures (Lauren Troupe at 9.9 points per game, Krystle Harrington at 9.8 and Jill Glessner with 9.3). Harrington leads in assists with an average of 5.5 a game.
