Baltimore, Md. - Senior Jill Glessner was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Player of the Week for women's basketball as announced by the conference office Tuesday. Glessner earns the honor for the first time in her career.
Glessner, who has led the Greyhounds in scoring in nine of 12 games this season, received the honor after averaging 18 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal in back-to-back wins for Loyola. She scored 17 points with two rebounds, an assist and a block in a 61-54 road win over Villanova. Glessner added 19 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals in a 75-63 home win over Penn. She hit 11-of-22 shots on the week for a 50% average from the floor. Glessner averages a team-high 15.3 points and 2.8 assists per game while coming in second in steals with 1.3 and third in rebounds with an average of six a game.
Loyola returns to its conference schedule this week, hosting Siena at home on Saturday, January 6. Tip-off is set for 2:30.
