Loretto, Pa. - Senior Jill Glessner scored 23 points, dished out four assists and pulled down six rebounds to lead Loyola past St. Francis (Pa.) on Monday night in Loretto. The Greyhounds shot 59 percent from the field to win 81-64 and improve to 3-4 on the year.
Loyola shot better than 61 percent from the field in the first half and held a 49-37 lead at the break. The Greyhounds continued their hot shooting in the second half as sophomore Ashley Alexander came off the bench to connect on 6-of-7 shots, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Alexander finished with 15 points and matched Glessner's six-rebound effort. Senior Brittany Dunn scored 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field while junior Meghan Wood added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists in the win.
The Greyhounds, who out-rebounded St. Francis, 33-29, also had five steals on the night. The win gives Loyola its first win streak of the season. The Greyhounds have won two straight after defeating Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg last Saturday.
Loyola will now play its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) game of the season, traveling to Marist this Friday. The Greyhounds and Red Foxes tip at 5 p.m.
