Bethlehem, Pa. - The Loyola men's tennis team played in the ECAC Fall Tournament in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday. The Greyhounds, who competed in four singles flights and a double flight, garnered a number of wins on the day.
Senior Scott Gannon played in Flight 1 singles competition, falling in his first round match. Sophomore Tim Koch and freshman Rob Mattison also lost their opening round matches in Flights 2 and 4 respectively, but each won a consolation match to end the day 1-1.
Freshman Jamie Russo, however, captured a round 1 victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win in Flight 3 singles play. Russo then faced Lehigh's Jay Bolcon in the flight's quarterfinals and fell 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles action, senior Doug Alban teamed up with freshman Dan D'Agostino with win 6-1, 6-0 in their first round match-up. The Loyola duo then defeated a Lehigh tandem in the quarters by scores of 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
The Greyhounds will remain in Pennsylvania and play a scoring match against St. Francis on Sunday at noon.
