Men's Tennis Cruises To 7-0 Win Over Coppin State

BALTIMORE, MD - Five Greyhounds won singles' matches in straight sets as Loyola's men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over Coppin State on Tuesday. The 'Hounds get the shutout at home and start the year at 1-0.

John Laramie got the win in No. 1 singles, defeating James Johnson 6-2, 6-0. Loyola took the No. 2 singles match behind Dan Schiemel, who won 6-0, 6-0 while Nick Bowers took No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1.

The Greyhounds won both doubles' matches with Schiemel and Bowers teaming up to take No. 1 doubles 8-2. Laramie and John Curren defeated Johnson and Eddie Wilson in the second doubles match, winning 8-0.

Both Adam Wassinger and Jonathon Falcichio blanked their opponents in No. 4 and No. 5 singles to give Loyola the shutout.

The Greyhounds will play in the D.C.-Baltimore Challenge next Saturday and Sunday at Washington, D.C.
