Jersey City, N.J. - With the men's match tied at 3-3, sophomore Chad Morrow broke Jake Baranowski's serve at 4-3 and went on to clinch the No. 4 singles' point and the match at Saint Peter's College on Sunday afternoon. The women earned four points in singles' competition and won 5-2 to complete the sweep.
On the men's side, an exciting finish was set up by a doubles' point win by the Greyhounds. Sean Wall and Morrow won the No. 2 match, 8-5 and the tandem of Sean Kraft and Rob McAward won 8-3 at No 3 to put Loyola up 1-0.
After dropping straight set singles' matches at No. 1 and No. 2, Wall stepped up with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3. McAward won his match by the same 6-0, 6-2 score, allowing Morrow to win the match with all in attendance.
The women also won their doubles' point with Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore taking the first game, 8-4. The `Hounds also won at No. 3 doubles with Meaghan McKenna and Courtney Vanslooten winning 8-4.
In singles action, Nitch claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Angela Wiggs as Meaghan McKenna won her No. 3 match in straight sets. Mallory Tarca clinched the win at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory and Laura Cut gave Loyola its fifth point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6.
The women host Saint Joseph's this Tuesday at 2 p.m. while the men are idle until their regular season finale at Rider on Monday, April 17.
