Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Fairfield, 4-3 While Men Lose To The Stags 6-1

FAIRFIELD, CT - Loyola's women's tennis team fell to Fairfield 4-3 while the Greyhound men's squad lost to the Stags 6-1 as the two teams continued their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule on Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhound women lost the doubles point as Loyola's lone doubles win came at the No. 3 slot when Gina Turturiello and Claire Najour won 8-3.

No. 4 singles player Amy Nitch won her match 6-4, 6-4, No. 5 player Jessica Liberatore won 6-3, 6-3 and No. 6 player Claire Najour won 6-3, 6-2 to give Loyola three of six singles victories, but it wasn't enough.

On the men's side, Adam Wessinger and Bill Horne earned the only doubles win for the Greyhounds with their 8-2 triumph at the No. 3 position as Loyola lost the doubles point.

No. 2 singles player Dan Schiemel then notched the only singles win of the day for Loyola with his 6-3, 6-4 win, but Fairfield took five of six singles matches to knock off their MAAC rivals.

The Greyhound women fall to 10-3 on the season with the loss, while the men see their record drop to 8-7.
