Men's Tennis Sweeps Catholic, 7-0

BALTIMORE, MD - Loyola's men's tennis team breezed through all three doubles matches and won all six singles matches en route to shutting out Catholic 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference contest at the Greyhounds' Butler Courts.

Nick Bowers led the way for Coach Rick McClure's squad as he rolled to a straight-set 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and partnered with teammate Dan Schiemel for an easy 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Schiemel (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) and Jon Falcichio (6-1, 2-6, 6-2) won their Nos. 2 and 3 singles matches in three sets, respectively, while Adam Wessinger (6-3, 6-1), John Curren (6-1, 6-3), and Bill Horne (6-4, 7-5) won at Nos. 4 through 6 singles, respectively, in straight sets.

No. 2 doubles team Falcichio and Curren and No. 3 doubles team Wessinger and Horne both triumphed 8-1 to complete the doubles competition sweep for the Greyhounds.

Loyola improves to 8-5 on the year with the win.
