Men's And Women's Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's soccer teams were among 861 college soccer teams (279 men, 582 women), to earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Awards for the 2012-13 academic year, as announced by the association on Monday.

Loyola was among 188 schools to have both its men's and women's programs recognized and one of six Patriot League schools.

The women's squad was honored for the 10th-straight year, combining for a 3.31 grade-point average, while the men were honored for the sixth time in the last seven years with a 3.34 combined GPA.

Seniors Joseph Cahalan and Colleen Folan were one of 11 student-athletes to be named to the Patriot League's men's and women's all-academic teams, respectively.

To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
