BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland senior defender Tennant McVea was tabbed to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on Monday after leading the Greyhounds to the 2009 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship and their third-straight berth in the NCAA College Cup.
McVea was named the MAAC Championships Most Valuable Player after Loyola (11-7-3 overall) defeated Niagara, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Greyhounds' defense did not allow a goal in the two matches they played during the tournament. On Friday, Loyola beat host Fairfield, 3-0, in the MAAC Semifinals.
McVea and his side will find out where the Greyhounds will compete in the NCAA College Cup on Monday, November 16, during the 5:30 p.m. broadcast on ESPNNews. Loyola will play in a first round game on Thursday, November 19.
Last week, McVea became the first player in league history to earn three-straight MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. He was also named to the All-MAAC First Team for the third year in a row.
