EDISON, N.J. - Glenn Leitch earned recognition from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for his seven-point weekend as the MAAC named him Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the league announced today.
Leitch shares this weekend’s honor with Siena’s Emery Welshman for the second straight week, as the two also split last week’s award. The award marks Loyola’s league-leading 13th MAAC weekly award this season and the sixth consecutive week the Greyhounds have captured at least one weekly honor.
Leitch continued his stellar play over the weekend, notching an assist for Loyola in a 2-1 loss to Siena on Friday and scoring a hat-trick to help lift the Greyhounds over visiting Marist on Sunday to help the team clench a birth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. Leitch has emerged as the Greyhounds’ second-ranking scorer while playing every minute of last weekend’s matches.
The senior guided Loyola to an early 2-0 lead against Marist and tied the game with another goal in the second half to force overtime, where the Greyhounds eventually won their ninth game of the season. He also recorded his first assist of the season on Friday and has 13 points in eight matches this year.
Loyola has gone 6-1-1 since Leitch made his first appearance this season.
The Greyhounds wrap up the regular season this weekend on the road with a Friday match at Fairfield at 7 p.m. before traveling to Iona on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest.
