Catonsville, Md. - Saturday's men's soccer match between the 17th-ranked Greyhounds and UMBC has been postponed indefinitely due to torrential rain and unplayable conditions at UMBC Stadium. The match will not be played this weekend and school officials are working to find a possible date for a rescheduling.
The match was moved from UMBC's grass field to a turf field because of heavy rain overnight and through the morning. Rain started again 10 minutes prior to the 1 o'clock scheduled start and the intensity of the rain and standing water forced officials to stop play less than 15 minutes into the first half. The game was scoreless at the time and postponed following a 20-minute delay.
It was decided Saturday that the match will not be played this weekend and school officials are working to find a possible date for a rescheduling of the match later in the season. Check back to www.loyolagreyhounds.com for more information when it becomes available.
The Greyhounds (6-0-1) return to action Wednesday when they host Princeton on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field in a 5 o'clock start.
