Loyola Men's Soccer
Loyola is in its 71st season as a men's soccer program, while this is the Greyhounds' 32nd year of competition as an NCAA Division I program.
It is also Loyola's inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League.
The Greyhounds were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for 24 years, posting an overall record of 167-24-8 in conference games from 1989-2012. Loyola also claimed 16 regular-season titles and 12 MAAC Tournament titles in that time.
This marks Loyola's first Patriot League contest.
As members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (1989-2012), the Greyhounds posted a 21-3-0 record in conference openers.
Loyola won its inaugural contest as a member of the MAAC, knocking off La Salle, 4-1, at home on September 10, 1989.
When the Greyhounds opened their MAAC schedule at home, Loyola was 11-1-0.
Under head coach Mark Mettrick, the Greyhounds were 11-2-0 in MAAC openers, and 5-1-0 when those games were played in Baltimore.
Sophomore Larry Ndjock leads the offense with a Patriot League-best seven goals, while junior Connor Thompson is second on the team with three goals. Seniors Stephen Dooley has two scores and Diego McQuestion has one.
In goal, seniors Zach Kane and Thurman Van Riper , in addition to freshman Jordan Watson, have all seen time, with each earning at least one win. Van Riper has earned two shutout victories, while Watson has the other clean sheet.
Holy Cross Crusaders
Holy Cross is coming off a 2-0 loss to Northeastern on Tuesday.
The Crusaders are led by Patriot League Rookie of the Week Joey DeVivo, who has four goals and eight points this season. DeVivo had three goals in Holy Cross' 4-1 win at Bryant.
Monty Sanders, Tommy Uttaro, Josh Cintas and Eddie Viscount all have goals for the Crusaders.
In goal, Kevin Wright has played all but one contest, posting a 1.29 goals-against average and a .784 goals-against average.
Loyola will embark on a three-game road swing beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when the Greyhounds head to James Madison for a 7 p.m. contest.
