Men’s And Women’s Soccer Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s soccer teams were among 859 college soccer teams (306 men, 553 women), to earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Awards for the 2014-15 academic year, as announced by the association on Wednesday.

Loyola was among 215 schools to have both its men’s and women’s programs recognized and one of four Patriot League schools.

The women’s squad was honored for the 11th-straight year, combining for a 3.33 grade-point average, while the men were honored for the second-straight year with a 3.37 combined GPA.

After completing the 2014 season, men’s soccer alum Joseph Cahalan and women’s soccer graduate student Colleen Folan picked up their second-straight Academic All-Patriot League honor.

To qualify for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
