  • The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's soccer teams will host a doubleheader at Ridley Athletic Complex on Wednesday. The women face American at 5 p.m. while the men will take on UMBC at 7 p.m

Women's Notes

  • The Greyhounds are coming off losses to No. 18 Wake Forest and No. 25 Virginia Tech at the Hokie Invitational on Sept. 9-11.
  • Of Loyola's eight nonconference matches, four have come against teams currently ranked in the NSCAA top 25 Coaches' Poll (No. 3 Maryland, No. 18 Wake Forest, No. 23 Boston University and No. 25 Virginia Tech).
  • Sophomore keeper Didi Haracic enters the week ranked third in the MAAC in saves with 56 this season.

Scouting the Eagles

  • American enters the week with a 3-5-1 record after going 1-0-1 last week. The Eagles played to a scoreless tie with Mount St. Mary's before beating Delaware State, 1-0.
  • The Eagles were picked to finish sixth in the Patriot League in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • American has notched wins over UMBC (2-1), New Hamsphire (1-0) and Delaware State (1-0).
  • The Eagles returned seven starters from the 2010 team that finished 6-2-3 over its last 11 games. American also welcomes eight newcomers.

Series with American

  • Wednesday's meeting marks the ninth time that the Eagles and Greyhounds have met, with this being the fifth match in Baltimore.
  • Loyola owns a 4-2-2 record against American and have won the last three matchups.
  • The last time the two teams met was on Sept. 18, 2009, with the Greyhounds winning, 2-0, at American.  Nichole Schiro scored her second career goal in that contest.

Men's Notes

Scouting the Retrievers

  • UMBC is coming off a 4-3 double overtime loss to No. 1 Maryland, its first loss since Oct. 15, 2010.

  • Sean Rothe leads the Retrievers with five points (2g, 1a), while Andrew Bulls has four (1g, 2a).

  • Dan Louisignau anchors the defense with a 0.97 GAA and a .861 save percentage, posting 31 saves.

Series with UMBC

  • Loyola holds an 18-2-2 advantage when facing UMBC, although the Greyhounds have dropped two of the last three decisions.

  • From 1969 to 2002, Loyola went unbeaten through 19 contests, before dropping a 2-1 game in 2003. Loyola responded in 2007 with a 1-0 victory, but fell 1-0 on the road in 2009.

  • The Greyhounds are unbeaten when facing UMBC at home, holding a 12-0-1 record.
