BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland senior Nichole Schiro has been named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office today.
Schiro scored twice, including the double-overtime game winner on Sunday as Loyola defeated Saint Joseph’s at Ridley Athletic Complex. The senior executed a perfect give-and-go-and-give with fellow forward Charlotte Miller to score the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute.
After the Hawks tied the game with four seconds left in regulation to force overtime, Schiro ripped a right-footed blast inside the right post at 108:13 to provide the game winner.
She now has 15 career game-winning goals among her school record 42 goals.
This marks the seventh weekly award for Schiro throughout her career while it is her first this season.
The Greyhounds will head to Stony Brook and Fordham this weekend for their final non-conference contests. Loyola will face the Seawolves on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Rams Sunday at 1 p.m.
