CENTER VALLEY, Pennsylvania - Loyola University Maryland sophomore Ryan Tuck has been named the Corvias Patriot League Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Tuck was the lone field player to play all 200 minutes in an unbeaten week for the Greyhounds. The defender from Stokesley, England, anchored a back line that gave up just eight shots and three corners in a 1-0 win at Drexel on Wednesday. He followed that up by getting Loyola a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Stetson on Saturday, scoring his first career goal - and the game’s equalizer - in the 64th minute.
For the season, Tuck has played all 470 minutes and has helped the Greyhounds to two shutout victories; a 1-0 win over Howard on September 2 and the 1-0 win at Drexel.
This is the first weekly honor for the Greyhounds this season and marks the second career award for Tuck, as he was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on November 11, 2013.
Loyola will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts La Salle in a nonconference match-up at Ridley Athletic Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
