Edison, N.J. - Junior goalkeeper Milos Kocic and freshman midfielder Ben Hanson were each selected for weekly honors by the MAAC it was announced today by the conference office. Kocic was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and Hanson received his first Rookie of the Week recognition.
Kocic earned the fifth honor of his career after allowing just one goal in a pair of Greyhounds wins last week. In shutting out Campbell at home Wednesday, the junior from Serbia collected six saves and posted the 10th straight home Loyola shutout dating back to last season. He recorded a career-high 10 saves in the win at George Washington, allowing just one goal to the high-scoring Colonials. Kocic has played all 450 minutes thus far this season with a 0.40 goals-against average, 91.7 save percentage and three shutouts.
Hanson registered ths first points of his career while contributing to both Greyhounds wins last week. He assisted on the only goal of the game in the win over Campbell and then tallied the game-winning goal at George Washington, snapping a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal as he scored off a rebound of his own shot in front of the net. His three points lead all Loyola freshmen and rank fourth on the team.
The Greyhounds, who recently moved up to 18th in the College Soccer News national rankings, put a 13-match unbeaten streak on the line Wednesday when they host William & Mary on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field at 5 o'clock.
