Freshmen Alfonso And Kolosvary Earn MAAC Honors

BALTIMORE, MD - Freshmen Omar Alfonso and Michael Kolosvary both earned MAAC honors after Loyola's 3-2 win over Cornell on Sunday. Alfonso was named the Rookie of the Week while Kolosvary garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Alfonso picks up rookie honors after scoring two goals and adding an assist in Loyola's win over the Big Red. He scored the game's second and third goals, connecting on his first career game-winner late in the second period.

Kolosvary was named the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week after stepping in and helping the Greyhounds get past Cornell. Kolosvary started his first collegiate contest on Sunday and has seen action in each of Loyola's last two games.

Loyola is 3-2 overall and will play in the Princeton Invitational on Friday (vs. Princeton) and Sunday (vs. Pennsylvania). The Greyhounds become the first school to earn both Rookie and Defensive Player honors in the same week this season.
