EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland freshman Larry Ndjock has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Ndjock scored both goals in Loyola’s 2-1 victory over Cal State Northridge – a program receiving votes in the most recent national poll. Ndjock’s first collegiate goal came almost three minutes after the Matadors scored, as he headed a corner kick from sophomore Connor Thompson into the goal. He then put a free kick from senior Kevin Curran into the net in the 67th minute for the game-winning goal.
The native of Berlin, Germany leads the Greyhounds with two goals and four points this season.
This marks the first rookie of the week award for Ndjock and for the Greyhounds this year. It is also the second-straight week Loyola has had a player earn a weekly award, as junior goalkeeper Thurman Van Riper was tabbed the league's Defensive Player of the Week last week.
Loyola (1-1-1) will close out its three-game homestand this weekend when it hosts Quinnipiac on Saturday for a 7 p.m. match at Ridley Athletic Complex.
