Men's Soccer Season Opener To Be Televised By Patriot Media

Sept. 1, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Friday night's season opener at Princeton will be televised by Patriot Media and will re-broadcast on Monday, September 5 and again on Wednesday September 7 on Patriot 8. The game, which is the season opener for both sides, begins at 7 p.m. and will be played at Lourie-Love Field on the campus of Princeton University.

The Greyhounds, who open with Princeton for the second straight season, meet the Tigers for the ninth time in program history. A close match is expected with all eight previous match-ups decided by one goal or less. Princeton leads the series 3-1-4 with five overtime games already played in eight series matches.

Both teams enter with high hopes, returning at least 80 percent of last season's scoring. The Greyhounds won the MAAC regular season title with a 9-0 conference record while Princeton tied for second in the Ivy League standings.

Patriot Media, a New Jersey cable provider, airs a handful of Princeton and Rutgers games each season. Lou Brogno will call the play-by-play and Keith Irizarry will provide color commentary for Friday night's game.
