Loyola Men's Soccer Featured On ESPN.com

Aug. 20, 2009

Less than two weeks before the season started, and Loyola's men's soccer team continues to make headlines.

Last week, three Greyhounds -- senior forward Jamie Darvill, senior back Tennant McVea and junior forward Phil Bannister -- were named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy's Watch List.

Earlier this week, Loyola received the No. 18 national ranking in the NSCAA/adidas Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Today, the Greyhounds were featured on ESPN.com in an article by Maria Burns Ortiz.

Ortiz, who covers college soccer for ESPN.com and ESPNsoccernet writes that Loyola, which was also selected first in the Preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coaches' Poll, has turned in success in the past two seasons and she expects it to continue this year.

The Greyhounds, who are 37-5-2 over the last two seasons, open their 2009 campaign with a 5 p.m. home match against Villanova on Tuesday, September 1. If you can't make it to the game, check out Greyhounds All-Access to watch the action live!
