WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former Loyola All-American Goalkeeper Milos Kocic and his D.C. United mates are preparing for a friendly match against one of the world's most renowned fútbol clubs, Real Madrid.
Kocic, playing his first season in Major League Soccer, and United take on the team voted by FIFA as the most successful club of the 20th century. The match begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Kakà, Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas and Raúl are expected to compete in the match.
Kocic has played in, and started, two matches for D.C. this season. A second-round draft pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, he has made six saves in 180 minutes of action. Kocic has also led United to a trio of victories in the U.S. Open Cup, helping them advance to the Championship Match versus the Seattle Sounders. He was in goal for a 1-1 tie during CONCACAF Champions League action, too.
