BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland will host eight men's soccer games at Ridley Athletic as part of its regular-season 2015 schedule announced today by second-year head coach, Steve Nichols.
The Greyhounds will open the 72nd season of men's soccer at Loyola on Friday, Aug. 28 when they host Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) University. Three days later, Loyola will face its first road test, Monday, Aug. 31, at La Salle University.
Old Dominion University, a team that advanced to the second round of the 2014 NCAA College Cup, comes to Ridley for the first time on Saturday, Sept. 5, and the Greyhounds then head to Durham, North Carolina, for a Tuesday, Sept. 8, contest at Duke University.
Crosstown-rival UMBC, which advanced to the College Cup semifinals last year, visits Loyola on Saturday, Sept. 12, for the Battle of Baltimore and a rematch of last year's 1-1 double-overtime draw in Catonsville.
Three-straight road games then face the Greyhounds a they trek to George Washington University on Saturday, Sept. 19, before opening their third year of competition in the Patriot League at the U.S. Naval Academy a week later on Sept. 26. Loyola then plays at Rutgers University on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Loyola hosts consecutive Patriot League contests against Lafayette College and American University on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Wednesday, Oct. 7, respectively, before heading to Boston University on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Lehigh University will be the site of the Greyhounds' next match on Saturday, Oct. 10, before Loyola plays its final regular-season non-conference game of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when it hosts Drexel University.
Army West Point comes to Ridley on Saturday, Oct. 24, and the Greyhounds travel to last year's Patriot League Tournament champion Bucknell University on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Colgate University hosts Loyola on Saturday, Oct. 31, and the Greyhounds wrap up the regular-season at home on Nov. 7 versus College of the Holy Cross.
The Patriot League Championships start on Tuesday, Nov. 10, with quarterfinal action, and the regular-season champion will host the semifinals and title match Friday-Sunday, Nov. 13-15.
Loyola's soccer schedule is subject to change, and times will be announced at a later date.
