The Loyola men's soccer team had a great showing this past weekend for both the Men's Soccer Alumni Game and the Golf Classic.

Despite poor weather on Friday night, and the threat of a tornado, the annual alumni game began brightly for a young alumni squad against Loyola's current team. Both Jamie Darvill ('10) and Glenn Leitch ('11) came close with headers and Julian Cantillo ('08) had a shot just off target. It would have been an interesting spectacle as it was one of the stronger alumni sides in recent years, however after 20 minutes, lightning resulted in the postponement of the match. Despite this setback, players, alumni and families enjoyed a very well attended social in the Greyhound suite overlooking the rain-soaked field.

There was much better weather Saturday, which made the golf outing an enjoyable time for everyone. A record 92 golfers took part in the event with John Aleccis' ('04) foursome taking first place with a score of 58. The proceeds from the tournament are used to elevate the experience of Loyola's men's soccer student-athletes' both on-and-off the field.

With a great golf turnout and a well-attended alumni game and social event, the weekend was considered a big success.
