Baltimore, Md. - Loyola forward Phil Bannister has been selected as a College Soccer News first-team All-Freshman selection for his accomplishments in 2007. Bannister is one of 11 freshmen and three forwards selected to the national all-rookie squad.
In his first season of college soccer, Bannister led Loyola in scoring with 13 goals and 33 points. He also had a team-high seven game-winning goals and a shot-on-goal percentage of .556.
Bannister was also selected to the 2007 All-MAAC and All-North Atlantic Region teams after helping the Greyhounds win the MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Loyola also hosted a first-round College Cup match against Liberty and advanced to play Maryland in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
The Greyhounds finished the year with a 19-3-1 overall record and ranked No. 29 in the final College Soccer News national poll. National Champion Wake Forest is ranked No. 1, while Ohio State is No. 2.
