Box Score

Baltimore, Md. - Freshman Phil Bannister scored his sixth game-winner of the year and team-leading 11th goal of the season as Loyola edged out Niagara in overtime on Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds, who won the game 1-nil, finish the regular season at 15-3 overall and 8-1 in the MAAC.

The goal came in the 97th minute when Ziggy Kamara sent a cross into the box for Bannister. The freshman forward controlled the pass and with one touch beat his defender and the prone Niagara keeper.

Loyola, which outshot the Purple Eagles, 13-6, was put in position to win due to another outstanding performance from sophomore goalkeeper Milos Kocic, who earned his 12th shutout of the season. Kocic made three saves in the game - all three in vital parts of the game, including one in overtime.

The Greyhounds, who had a number of near misses and good opportunities, were a bit unlucky on shots from senior Janson Blake and Ziggy Kamara down the stretch. The unlucky bounces resulted in Loyola's first overtime of the season.

Loyola, which wrapped up the regular season MAAC crown with Friday's win over Canisius, also closed the season at home with a perfect 9-0 record. The Greyhounds have earned shutouts in nine of their 10 conference games this season and enter the league tournament with the No. 1 seed.

The 2007 MAAC Tournament will take place in Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The Greyhounds will play the winner of the 8/9 game on Thursday Nov. 15 at 1:45 p.m.
