LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland men’s soccer team fell to Bucknell, 5-0, in a rain-soaked contest at Emmitt Field Wednesday night.
The Bison capitalized on a give-and-go situation early in the contest when Jesse Klug centered a ball back to Chris Thorsheim for an eight-yard goal in the 10th minute.
Thorsheim then tallied his second goal in the 23rd minute when he finished a corner kick that was bouncing around inside the box.
A pair of own goals in the 52nd and 71st minutes gave the Bison a 4-0 advantage before Patrick Figgie put Bucknell up, 5-0. Sanchez had made a diving save on Klug’s initial shot, but Figgie one-touched the rebound into the back of the net.
Sanchez played all 90 minutes in goal for the Greyhounds and recorded his 50th save of the season, finishing the contest with seven.
Loyola will remain on the road for a second-straight contest, as the Greyhounds will play at Colgate on Saturday. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
