BALTIMORE - Sophomore midfield Eddie Dines scored the match's only goal in the 53rd minute and 23rd-ranked Loyola (4-0-0) defeated visiting Campbell (1-2-0), 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
Dines touched the ball past Campbell goalkeeper Aaron Johnson, scoring the eventual game-winner.
Campbell managed to outshoot Loyola, 11-9, but Loyola goalkeeper Milos Kocic finished with six saves for his third shutout of the season in four games.
The Camels put together a string of two shots on goal in the 68th minute. Richard Jata put two shots on Kocic from near point-blank range, but the Loyola goalkeeper made saves on each of them.
In the 81st minute, Loyola nearly scored an insurance goal, as junior forward Jamie Darvill crossed a ball from right-to-left and Bannister put a solid header on the ball, but it slid just wide of the goal.
The win was Loyola's 13th straight home victory and the 16th victory in its last 17 appearances on Geppi-Aikens Field. The Greyhounds also have not been scored upon in 10 straight home matches.
Loyola returns to non-conference action on Saturday, September 13, at 3 p.m. when it travels to Washington, D.C., to face the George Washington Colonials.
