Men's Lacrosse No. 23 In Preseason Coaches' Poll

Dec. 27, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Inside Lacrosse and Face-Off Yearbook have released their Division I Preseason Men's Lacrosse Coaches' Poll and the Greyhounds are No. 23. Loyola is one of six ECAC schools in the Top-25 with defending champion Johns Hopkins topping the poll with 36 first-place votes.

Loyola garnered 231 poll points from the 55 Division I coaches polled. The Greyhounds, under the direction of first-year head coach Charley Toomey, return 2005 ECAC Goalie of the Year Michael Fretwell and six of last season's top seven scorers.

Georgetown is the top ECAC school in the preseason poll, coming in at No. 6. Nine of Loyola's 13 scheduled opponents for 2006 are in the Top 25, including No. 11 Towson, who the Greyhounds open the season with on February 25.

The poll is compiled by Face-Off Yearbook, which comes out every January and has a preview of every team in men's college lacrosse: DI, DII, DIII and JuCo schools. This year's Face-Off is available for purchase at Insidelacrosse.com.

Inside Lacrosse also organizes NCAA Division I lacrosse's weekly media poll, the first of which will be released in early February.
