Brundage, Cannon Named Preseason All-Americas - Loyola Ranked No. 13 In Preseason Lacrosse Poll

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College men's lacrosse team is ranked No. 13 in the Inside Lacrosse/Faceoff Division I Preseason Coaches Poll released today. The Greyhounds also pick up two preseason All-Americas with senior Stephen Brundage at attack and senior Bernie Cannon on defense.

After a 7-6 campaign in 2003, Loyola will begin 2004, it's last season as an independent, ranked No. 13 behind Baltimore foes Johns Hopkins and Towson. Virginia, the defending national champions hold onto the No. 1 spot with 26 first-place votes. The Blue Jays pick up 24 first-place votes while Syracuse is ranked No. 3 with three first-place tallies.

The Greyhounds will begin the season with its first four games against opponents ranked in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll, including their first three games against teams ranked above them. Loyola opens the year at No. 10 Towson on Feb. 28 and then goes to No. 11 Hofstra and hosts No. 9 Duke before playing No. 16 Notre Dame. In all, Loyola has nine of its 13 games against teams ranked in the coaches' poll.

Making the preseason All-America teams are Brundage and Cannon, two of Loyola's four seniors. Brundage, who led the Greyhounds with 23 goals and 13 assists last season, was named a preseason third-team selection while Cannon garnered honorable mention honors at defense.
