ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Recent Loyola University Maryland graduate J.P. Dalton was selected by the Major League Lacrosse Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks with the 88th pick in Wednesday's Supplemental Draft.
Dalton was one a co-captain for the Greyhounds during their NCAA Championship season in 2012 when they tied a Division I record with 18 wins against just one loss.
He took 394 faceoffs during the 2012 season, more than all but two players in Division I last season, and he won 206 (.523). He picked up 57 ground balls, as well during the run to the title.
Dalton was a member of the Greyhounds second midfield, too, scoring nine goals and assisting on four more. He logged a career high of three points with a goal and two assists at UMBC, and later in the year, he scored two goals in a win at Hobart.
At the `X', Dalton had his best game of the season at a critical moment. Facing Second Team All-American Chase Carraro of the University of Denver in the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 19, Dalton dominated faceoff play. He won 17-of-22 in the game, helping the Greyhounds beat the Pioneers for the third time in 2012 and advance to the NCAA Final Four.
Dalton graduated from Loyola in May, two days prior to the Quarterfinal game, with a bachelor of business administration.
