BALTIMORE, MD - With his entire defense returning and a highly-touted recruiting class coming in, men's lacrosse coach Bill Dirrigl is ready to get the season underway. Although lacrosse doesn't officially begin for five months, Dirrigl will get a preview of what his new squad can do when the Greyhounds welcome back their former players for the annual Alumni Game this Saturday.
"It's always great to see all of the Alumni who made this program special back on the Loyola campus," says Dirrigl. "The game is a good way for everyone to get together, and it gives us an opportunity to get the new guys some playing time with our veterans."
Loyola brings back the core of its defense and can count on senior Stephen Brundage to supply some offense. Brundage, a two-time All-America selection, led the Greyhounds in scoring last season with 23 goals and 36 points.
"We have a lot of good players back," says Dirrigl. "We also have 17 new faces that bring new energy into the program."
Dirrigl's recruiting class, rated No. 2 in the nation by Inside Lacrosse Magazine, will get its first look at Loyola lacrosse on Saturday. The Alumni Game is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start on Curley Field.
