Baltimore, Md. - Senior Shane Koppens was named an Honorable Mention All-America men's lacrosse player by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association after a stellar season with Loyola's attack unit. Koppens led the Greyhounds in scoring, ranking among the nation's best in points and assists per game.
Koppens led Loyola's offense this season with 19 goals, 24 assists and 43 total points. The senior attackman from Clifton Park, N.Y. played a key role in leading the Greyhounds to a second straight NCAA Tournament as he helped Loyola earn the ECAC's automatic bid as the conference's top scorer.
Koppens was named the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year at season's end. He also finished the year ranked 16th in the nation in assists per game and 30th in points per game. For his career, Koppens has 60 assists, which rank him eighth on Loyola's all-time career assist list.
