Baltimore, Md. - Junior Dan Bauers has been named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Bauers, who scored three of Loyola's nine goals on Saturday, helped the Greyhounds defeat conference foe Rutgers to improve to 3-1 in the league this season.
Bauers' three-goal effort matched a career high he set in the season opener at Towson. His first goal on Saturday gave Loyola a 1-0 lead only one minute into the game. He scored his second goal at 9:48 of the second quarter and at 8:52 of the same quarter gave Loyola a 7-1 lead on the Scarlet Knights. Bauers also added an assist on Greg Leonard's man-up goal to give him four points on the day.
With his three goals, Bauers now leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and eight assists this season. He also has one game-winning goal and five man-up tallies, tying him with Andrew Spack for the team lead.
Bauers is the second Loyola player recognized as Player of the Week by the ECAC this season. Senior goalie Michael Fretwell was named Defensive Player of the Week after 16 saves at St. John's on March 18.
