Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's lacrosse team travels to Rutgers this Saturday in search of its sixth straight win and a 4-0 start in ECAC play. The Greyhounds closed the month of March with a perfect 5-0 record and begin the closing stretch of their conference schedule with a 3:30 p.m. game at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University. Loyola is fresh off a thrilling 11-10 win over Syracuse, where sophomore goalie Alex Peaty made a saves as time expired to help the `Hounds hold on. Peaty was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week with his 12 saves in the contest.
Rutgers enters Saturday's contest with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in ECAC play. The Scarlet Knights, who are 2-1 at home this season, defeated Manhattan by a score of 10-3 on Tuesday night after suffering a conference loss to St. John's last weekend.
The Greyhounds, who are ranked eight in the nation with a 5-2 overall record, have never lost to Rutgers. Loyola holds a 7-0 all-time series record against the Scarlet Knights, most recently winning 10-5 (at Rutgers in 2005) and 9-4 (at Loyola in 2006) in conference play.
Senior Dan Bauers, who scored three goals in last year's win over the Scarlet Knights, is Loyola's leading goal scorer this season with 19 goals through seven games. Junior Shane Koppens, who has 13 assists on the year, is the team's top points man with 24 points.
Saturday's game will be Loyola's first road game since its win over top-ranked Duke on March 10. The Greyhounds are 2-1 away from home this season and will play three of their final five games on the road. Game time from Rutgers is 3:30 p.m. with radio coverage on WNST AM 1570 beginning at 3:25 p.m.
