Baltimore, Md. - Sophomore goalie Alex Peaty has been named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Peaty made 12 saves in Saturday's win over Syracuse, including one as time expired to preserve a one-goal lead as the Greyhounds won their fifth game in a row.
Peaty finished the game with two groundballs and one caused turnover to go along with his 12 saves. So far this season, the sophomore keeper has made 12 or more saves in six of Loyola's seven games. His season totals include a .606 save percentage and a 8.43 goals against average.
Peaty was also named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week after making 12 saves in Loyola's win over No. 1 Duke. Saturday's win was Loyola's first win over Syracuse since April 7, 2001 - which was also the last time Loyola defeated a No. 1 team prior to this year's win over Duke.
