Jake Hagelin Named ECAC Co-Defensive Player Of The Week

March 24, 2008

Baltimore, Md. - Freshman Jake Hagelin has been named the ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding week in goal for the Greyhounds. Hagelin, who made a career-high 14 saves in Loyola's conference win at UMass, allowed just six cumulative goals in two games last week.

Highlighting Hagelin's week was his role in Loyola's 15-1 win at Massachusetts. Hagelin not only made 14 saves, but his one goal allowed is the fewest goals allowed by Loyola in a single game since 1999. On top of that - the one goal scored by UMass was the fewest goals the Minutemen have scored in a game since scoring one against Brown in 1964.

For the week, Hagelin made 19 saves, allowing five goals to Siena and one to the Minutemen. He now has 70 saves on the year and a.569 save percentage. Hagelin, who has started all seven games in goal this season, was the ECAC Rookie of the Week back on March 3.
