Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's lacrosse team returns to ECAC play this Saturday at Massachusetts. The Greyhounds, who are 2-0 in the league, take on the Minutemen in their conference opener. The game will be televised live on Comcast CN8 beginning at 2 p.m. Live Audio
Both teams are coming off disappointing non-conference losses on Tuesday and will look to get back on track with a game sure to affect the league standings. Massachusetts and Loyola were picked to finish second and third respectively in the ECAC preseason coaches' poll and are two of four teams without a league loss this season.
Last year at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field, the Greyhounds captured a 10-8 victory over the Minutemen to run their win streak to four games. This season, the teams are allowing 8.8 goals (Loyola) and 6.7 goals (UMass) per game, indicating that the contest could be low scoring.
Should that be the case, Loyola defender P.T. Ricci is among the nation's leaders in caused turnovers and groundballs per game. Freshman goalie Jake Hagelin also has a .519 save percentage while starting all six games in the cage.
Saturday's game is also Loyola's third televised game this season. The Greyhounds, who play six TV games during the regular season, are so far 1-1 in televised games. The `Hounds are also 2-0 in away games and have followed each loss with a victory.
In addition to its television broadcast, Saturday's game can also be heard on WNST AM 1570, or online at www.LoyolaGreyhounds.com and www.WNST.net.
