San Diego, Calif. - Junior Shane Koppens is the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Koppens, who scored two goals and added three assists in Loyola's win over league rival Penn State on Saturday, is also the team's leading scorer after three games this season.
On Saturday at Penn State, Koppens scored the game-winning goal with 4.4 seconds left in regulation, capping a Loyola rally that included seven fourth-quarter goals and two goals in the final 22 seconds. Koppens assisted on the game-tying goal with 22 seconds left in regulation before ending the game seconds later.
The junior attackman is the team's leading scorer this season with four goals and eight assists. He also had 11 groundballs in three games.
Koppens is also the first ECAC Offensive Player of the Week this season.
