Loyola Faceoff Unit Featured In The Baltimore Sun

The Loyola men's lacrosse faceoff unit was featured in an article and online blog on Friday in The Baltimore Sun.

Led by volunteer assistant coach and Loyola alum Steve Vaikness, the unit won 8-of-9 restarts last Saturday in the second half against Navy as the Greyhounds completed a five-goal comeback to defeat the Midshipmen, 9-8.

Faceoff specialist John Schiavone has finished fifth and sixth over the last two seasons nationally in faceoff winning percentage. Short-stick defensive midfielder Josh Hawkins and long-stick midfielder Scott Ratliff were keys on Saturday, as well, combining to pick up 11 ground balls.
