Baltimore, Md. - Senior co-captain Paul Richards has been named to the 2008 Preseason All-ECAC team, the conference office announced today. Richards helped the Loyola men's lacrosse team earn an at-large berth to the 2007 NCAA Tournament, playing all 13 games at midfield. He is Loyola's lone representative on this year's 12-member preseason squad.
Richards scored seven goals and added six assists last season while picking up 40 groundballs for the Greyhounds. He has played in every Loyola game the past two seasons and has 20 goals and 20 assists entering his senior year.
The Greyhounds, who were picked third in the preseason ECAC coaches' poll, were 5-2 in the ECAC last year. Last season's defending champion, Georgetown, landed the most players on the preseason team with four. Loyola opens the 2008 season hosting Notre Dame on February 16. They open league play with a home game versus Penn State on March 1.
