Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's golf team moved up to third in the Golfstat District 2 rankings and climbed to fifth in the Golfweek district rankings after a runner-up finish at the Crowne Plaza Colonial on Tuesday. The rankings, released today, have Loyola holding Top-5 spots in both polls for the first time in program history.
The Greyhounds have one tournament championship and two runner-up finishes in five events this fall. Loyola won its season opening tournament at Navy and has finished no worse than six in any tournament this season. With runner-up finishes the last two weekends (Joe Agee and Crowne Plaza), the Greyhounds have closed out strong.
Senior captain Will Shriver and sophomores Blake Furgerson and Michael Mulieri, who finished in a three-way tie for sixth at the Crowne Plaza Colonial earlier this week, have been Loyola's top finishers in each of its fall events. The Greyhounds have one fall tournament remaining on the schedule - the Charleston Southern Invitational on October 30-31.
