EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland senior Jay Mulieri has been selected as the MAAC men's golfer of the month for September, as announced by the conference office Thursday.
Mulieri, a senior from Silver Spring, Md., leads the team with a 71.22 stroke average and has notched two top-10 individual finishes this fall. Most recently, he tied for second at the Hartford Hawks Invitational after completing a four-way playoff round for top honors. Mulieri shot rounds of 72, 68 and 73 to lead Loyola to a runner-up finish behind UConn. He finished with an individual score of 3-under 213. At the season opening Maryland Intercollegiate, Mulieri opened with a season-best 67, before carding a 74 and 69 to finish four strokes off the lead at 3-under 210. He leads the team this fall with a 71.22 stroke average and has been at par or under through four of the nine rounds he has played, including two rounds in which he finished at 4-under par.
The men's golf team will return to action Sunday and Monday, Oct. 2-3, heading to Miromar Lakes, Fla., for the Miromar Lakes Collegiate.
