BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland golf team will open play at the two-day Primland Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Wake Forest at the Highland Course at Primland in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, on Monday, Sept. 28.
The nine-team field will feature three schools the Greyhounds have already faced this season; Davidson, Penn State and Wake Forest, while Auburn, North Carolina, Pepperdine, Virginia Tech and Yale will join Loyola in rounding out the field.
"We have been looking forward to playing in this tournament since we were invited to participate last fall," head coach Chris Baloga said. "I have heard tremendous things of the Primland Resort and from what I understand, the course rewards accuracy off the tee, which should benefit our team.
"In addition, this is likely the strongest field we will face in the regular season, so it will be a great test for us, as these are all teams that we have seen in the NCAA Regional Championships the past few years."
The Highland Course at Primland is a par 72, 7053-yard course in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The first day of competition will feature 36 holes of play, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday. Admission to the event will be $10.
Following the tournament, the Greyhounds will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 5-6.
