HOUSTON - Former Loyola University Maryland golfer T.J. Shuart finished tied for 20th in stroke play action at the 31st U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship and advanced to match play competition.
The 2005 graduate shot 72-73 (145) on the par-72 courses at Shadow Hawk Golf Club and is one of 64 golfers who will compete in match play. The native of Coral Springs, Fla., will play David Noll, Jr., in his first match play round.
The U.S. Mid-Amateur is open to the top amateur players who are 25 years of age or older.
Another former Greyhound golfer, Will Shriver '07, also qualified and played in the Mid-Amateur. He shot 78-73 (151) and finished just outside the cutline for the playoff to advance to match play, tying for 96th.
