BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland golf team will begin its 2016-17 season on Saturday at the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina.
The event will feature 36 holes of play on Saturday, followed by an 18-hole final round on Sunday. "We are looking forward to once again starting our season at Duke," head coach Chris Baloga said. "We had some success in this tournament last year and we're looking forward to the strong competition again this year, as it's one of the best field of teams we'll see this season. I'm confident in the group we are taking as four of the guys played this tournament last year and Will [Wears] has played the course many times over the year, as well."
This weekend's 14-team tournament will feature, Duke, East Carolina ETSU, Florida Southern, Florida State, Kansas, Liberty, Loyola, North Carolina, Penn State, Princeton, South Florida, UC Davis and Wake Forest. In last years Rod Myers Invitational, the Greyhounds were narrowly edged out of fifth by Kansas, finishing with a combined score of 21-over 885.
Loyola will tee off at 7:35 a.m. on Saturday and will play with East Tennessee State and Princeton through the first two rounds. Sunday's third and final round will begin at 7:35 a.m.
Up next, the Greyhounds will travel to Meadows of Dan, Virginia, as they head to compete in the Primland Intercollegiate Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27.
