Mamaroneck, N.Y. - After shooting a 78 to open play at the 2004 U.S. Amateur, T.J. Shuart posted an 83 on Winged Foot's East Course on Tuesday to close out the 104th Amateur Open with a two-day total of 161 in Mamaroneck, N.Y.Missing the match-play cut by 11 strokes, Shuart registered his best round on Winged Foot's harder and longer course. His opening round of 78 came on the 7,266-yard West Course. The East Course, which is 6,775 yards, played difficult on Tuesday leaving Shuart out of the Top-64.Ryan Moore, last year's NCAA Division I champion, took stroke play medallist honors with a one-under par 139. Moore, who made the cut at the 2003 Masters, also qualified for the 2002 U.S.Open.Shuart, Loyola's captain this season, returns to Evergreen where his Greyhounds open the fall schedule with the Navy Fall Invitational on September 10-11.Loyola has won the last two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference titles and has been to the last two NCAA Tournaments. The Greyhounds partner with Caves Valley Golf Club to host the 2005 NCAA Men's Golf Championship in June.
