Michael Mulieri Fires Four-Round 272 At Eastern Amateur

Portsmouth, Va. - Loyola senior Michael Mulieri fired rounds of 67-66-71-68 at the 2008 Eastern Amateur Golf Championship at Elizabeth Manor Country Club in Portsmouth, Va. over the weekend. The Greyhound captain tied for 13th overall in a very strong international field.

Mulieri found himself seven-under par and tied for third place after two rounds and in the field's Top-10 after three rounds of play. His 272 finished only one stroke out of a Top-10 finish. Jude Eustaquio of the Phillipines won the tournament with a four-round score of 260.

Earlier this summer, Mulieri won the Maryland State Amateur Championship and has qualified for some of the nation's top amateur tournaments, including the Porter Cup this July 22-26.

Mulieri will enter his senior year at Loyola as team captain and the defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champion.
