Michael Bassler Joins Men's Golf Team

June 30, 2006

Baltimore, Md. - Head Coach Tom Beidleman has announced the addition of Michael Bassler to the 2006-07 Loyola men's golf team. Michael Bassler, the only freshman recruit announced by Coach Beidleman, joins older brother, Matt Bassler, who is a junior on the golf team.

"Michael has a very solid golf background and pedigree with his father being a golf pro," says Beidleman "He comes from a great program at Mount St. Joseph's and will be a nice addition to our program this year."

Bassler was a four-year letterwinner at Mount St. Joseph's, playing No. 1 his junior and senior seasons. He earned All-MIAA honors as a sophomore, junior and senior, and was named to the 2006 All-Metro team. Bassler also claimed the Rolling Road Golf Club Junior Championship last summer.

Michael Bassler joins a Loyola squad that returns every member from its 2006-07 season. The Greyhounds, who have advanced to three of the last four NCAA Tournaments, return one senior (Will Shriver) and three juniors.
